The Effective Development course is a skills-focused, two-day short course for development practitioners wanting to focus on where they can make the greatest difference in their work. It demystifies emerging good practice in international development. Our Melbourne course immediately follows the AIDS 2014 Conference in Melbourne that closes on 25 July, and will be most useful to those working on the global response to HIV and AIDS in an international development context. The course offers methods to apply good practice meaningfully to promote empowering locally-owned and sustainable development outcomes. It also equips development practitioners to understand and develop their own strengths as practitioners, and where to focus their efforts. The aim of the course is to deepen practitioners’ confidence in their own skill, knowledge and decision-making within often chaotic and dynamic development contexts.
